I really don’t see what the other commenters see here. The house’s choice of colors and materials lack consistency and instead of ‘artsy’, I see suburban trying too hard but didn’t quite get it right. The blue washroom and red kitchen, wood ceiling in basement, beige master bedroom with beige tub, so oddly put together I have no words…
Totally disagree with the above comment! Just because every room doesn’t look the exact same doesn’t make it “inconsistent” – think of every Toronto home! No, this house is definitely for someone with an artistic eye. Love the blue bathroom and the big kitchen is GORGEOUS!
Such a pretty house. So original. The colors are warm and inviting. The blue bathroom is spa-like. I love it. Seems like a good price for what you get. Toronto houses are becoming so out of reach for so many families. There are two Go Train stops in Oakville .

Ha, it’s pretty obvious that the realtor/owners/friends are writing all of these comments (with the exception of Rose). These posts are all meaningless TL…they’re not highlighting interesting finds, they’re just another platform for realtors to advertise their listings.
Having sold luxury homes for two decades in the GTA, I can tell you this house is worth at least twice as much as it’s going for. Takes a savvy buyer to find it.
I think the reason the house looks miss-matched or artsy (take your pick) is because the second level is a ‘recent addition.’ I agree, that blue bathroom is lovely, the upstairs spaces are great, but that maple cabinetry in the kitchen and the iron railing seem incredibly dated. Nice appliances, though, and lovely landscaping.
Nice enough I guess–although a bit too ‘Euro-weird’on the inside for me. The exterior looks like the same cheapo McMansion seen elsewhere, and who designed the the entry? I’ll pass…

I’m with Rose here….once you remove the furniture, artwork and other personal belongings I really don’t see what’s ‘gorgeous’ or ‘lovely’ about this house. To me, its decent and has a nice backyard. But I gotta totally disagree with a previous comment…..there is no such thing as ‘this house being worth twice as much’….a house is worth what the market will pay and this house is priced accordingly. If it seems ‘inexpensive’ then there is a very good reason for it being such a deal.
Based on what I know of the Oakville market, this seems really, really underpriced. I’m guessing there must be a neighbourhood issue of some sort, because given the size and photos, I would have thought this place would be going more like 2 million. Something is off here.
Ah, looked at the streetview – not near the lake, and suffering from ‘by far the nicest house on the block’ syndrome, where the other homes on the street are still original little bungalows and split levels. Still feels underpriced, but makes more sense when you see the neighbourhood around it.
I’ve been through this house. The main floor hardwood really needs refinishing. The master bath could use updating. The tub is a little old-fashioned. The driveway is red gravel and needs a proper update. I would say $50,000 in finishing would more than cover it. At this price, it is an absolute steal.
This is in south west Oakville….where there are lots of old 60s houses that have been renovated. Lousy reno it is ugly. I think the owners must know someone at the magazine. I think it has been for sale for a long time.
The value of the size and lot alone are worth well more than asking. Guessing it might need work, but since it’s only come on the market recently, seems like it’s priced for quick sale. Re the comment it’s a bachelor pad – only if he’s looking to attract a mate and start a family, otherwise he (or she) would not be in that neighbourhood.
It’s a beautiful house inside and out. I don’t see the hate here – it’s well-priced, renos appear to be well-done, it’s in a good location, etc. Being the nicest house on the street likely means your property taxes are reasonable (for now), as your neighbours reno your property values will go up and you get to live in a nice house.
I think people focus a bit too much on colours and decor and not enough on the bones of the house, layout, property and landscaping, quality of materials. For example, I may not love the red countertop, but I could get used to it for the other 99% of the home.
And nice to see TL put a house that is sort of within the realm of reason.
this house is absolutely hideous! from peach fabrics and nasty outdated paint colours to terrible looking tile selections to the horrible wrought iron railing into the 70’s sunken family room…..
you people must be on crack. it looks like it was decorated by a frustrated and closeted italian house-husband.
I think this looks beautiful. With so many cookie-cutter development houses in Oakville, its nice to see that some people put care into their design. I’d love to live here.

I think this house is bright, organic and warm looking. I don’t know why people have become afraid of using color and mixing it up a bit! I, for one, am pretty bored with the current decorating trend of grey, taupe,dark floors, cold steel staircases, more grey… why would a family want to live in that kind of environment?
but really how 80’s is peach and seafoam green and whatever that bad hue of greek restaurant blue…..its like someone bought paint from a garage sale and decided to use it up. the best thing about this house is the backyard…and really gold? gold? tub fixtures and the tub in the friggen bedroom, this looks like a reno’d old house and really badly reno’d.
it was probably a charming bungalow but picture 17 says the 2nd story was recently added. the whole thing is like a joan rivers facelift, tacky and artificial on the outside and inside lives the tattered old brittle skeleton waiting to die
Good for empty nesters, as their knees can’t take the stairs as much and the master suite is on the main floor, and when their grown up kids come home to visit..they stay upstairs.
nice hosue – good layout, horrible design. whomever was hired/did the design inside this house had an outdated euro vibe in mind. the red/carmel/orange/brown theme is best suited for old, old, old houses. not a new reno in a neighbourhood filled with houses built in the 60s and 70s. as for the price, it is fair but as i’m sure most of you know, you never put in an offer for asking price. so there would be ample room to play around with price if you were interested and that’s a bonus. oakville is a great town to live in and this seems like a good find, if you’re not planning to move in the next ten years. it would be difficult to sell this house considering its surroundings – price should drop. lots of money would have to be put into extra reno to make this home look more moden/updated considering the exterior. good luck to the sellers is all i gotta say…
The only thing that’s bachelorpad about this house is that fur rug in the living room. Otherwise…..GORGEOUS HOUSE! These Oakville neighbourhoods are going UP not down in price as the little bungalows are knocked down and rebuilt! Great investment…I’d live here!!
