Home of the week: $3.1 million for the model suite of the new Ritz-Carlton Hotel
The Residences at the Ritz-Carlton, 181 Wellington Street West

ADDRESS: 181 Wellington Street West, Ste. 4901
NEIGHBOURHOOD: Waterfront Communities–The Island AGENT: Baker Real Estate Inc.
PRICE: $3.095 million THE PLACE: Perched on the 49th floor of the swank Ritz-Carlton Hotel, this two-bedroom suite has panoramic views looking north over downtown and west over Lake Ontario. The beige wallpaper might be a bit impersonal in that hotel kind of way, but residents can personalize the space by choosing their own finishes and colours, as well as by purchasing one of the furniture packages. Hotel living brings obvious benefits, like room and maid service, and access to one of the largest hotel spas in the city. Residents can also unwind in luxury in their six-piece marble ensuite bathroom.

BRAGGING RIGHTS: It may be a little premature to call the Ritz-Carlton the Plaza of Toronto, but we don’t foresee anyone turning their noses up at this place. Amenities for residents include a gym, games room, boardroom and screening room in the private Sky Lobby on the 22nd floor. BIG SELLING POINT: Location. In addition to being close to pretty much everything downtown, the building will connect to the Path, so winters will never be felt again. POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: We anticipate a fair amount of stargazing opportunities in the lobby, but during TIFF, there will inevitably be gluts of annoying tourists and paparazzi.

BY THE NUMBERS:

• 2,525 square feet • 2.5 bathrooms • 2 bedrooms • 2 private elevators • 1 fireplace • 1 den • 1 private lounge • 1 gym • 1 boardroom • 1 screening room • 1 spa
