Condo of the Week: $970,000 for a three-bedroom in a stone church in Roncesvalles
Address: 384 Sunnyside Avenue, Unit 202
Neighbourhood: High Park-Swansea
Agent: William Peter Mohan, Sutton Group Realty Systems Inc., Brokerage
The Place: A three-bedroom, two-level unit in the Abbey Lofts, a former Methodist Church converted into 24 residences in 2008.
Bragging Rights: Design features like stained-glass windows, exposed wooden beams, limestone walls and vaulted ceilings make the suite feel more like a castle than a condo.
Big Selling Point: A prime location in the middle of a residential area between Roncesvalles’ shops and restaurants and High Park.
Possible Deal Breaker: The medieval-meets-industrial-meets-Martha Stewart look isn’t for decorators who prefer to take one style and stick with it.
By the Numbers:
• $905.62 in monthly maintenance fees
• 1,860 square feet
• 97% Walk Score
• 3 bedrooms
• 3 bathrooms
• 2 levels

Wow! Where do I sign up to live in a million dollar basement???
The Good – location, the exposed stone interior and those magnificent windows!
The Bad – not taking advantage of the exposed stone…where’s the wainscoting, crown molding and crystal chandelier?
The Ugly – lousy fridge location and entry-level washrooms
The Realtor – slightly more pics than the article but having to request for a feature sheet is annoying and petty. btw MLS®: W2565569
have you asked your mom?
Deal Breaker: the structural problems. There’s been tarps on that building for months.
I have to say that’s brutal interior design work that doesn’t complement the building’s “bones” at all. Pass on this. Definitely overpriced.
I DON’T THINK SO TIM ! HOLY WOW ! BATMAN ! A CHURCH, YOU GOT TO BE KINDING, EH ! Sprinklers on the ceiling and located in one on the most dangerous parts of the city besides Jane & Finch as the worst spot, eh ! ” NO BLOODY WAY ” ! ! !
off your medication again, I see
I don’t get it… Have I asked my Mom? No, can’t say that I have.
The doors are horrible. The bathroom door looks like the most annoying thing ever!
I was at the open house for this unit a couple weeks ago, and the pictures do not do it justice. The place is stunning. My issue with it was that if you’re going to cough up close to a million bucks, the place should at least have room for full-size front-loader laundry machines.
Maybe one day ;)
