City-owned real estate agency is looking to pay its executives big ol’ bonuses

Doug Ford is a known lover of the private sector, so it’s no surprise that Build Toronto, the city’s real estate agency—of which he’s a board member—has adopted “a private-sector-style salary and bonus system” for compensating executives, according to the Globe and Mail. While curious minds wondering what kind of dough Ford and his friends are making are out of luck for now—figures haven’t been publicly disclosed—Build is required to report to city politicians in March. Given the current fiscal climate at city hall and the recent uproar about bonuses paid to public sector execs, we expect some serious scrutiny of those salaries in a couple months’ time.
