The truth behind Jaden Smith’s Toronto-fuelled Twitter tantrum

Jaden Smith, who’s in Toronto filming rom-dram Life in a Year, doesn’t seem too pleased with our city’s hospitality. The young actor/rapper/philosopher took to Twitter over the weekend, accusing the Four Seasons Hotel of tampering with his food before forcing him to leave. Here’s how it all went down (and what actually happened).

The claim

The staff at the Four Seasons almost (deliberately) killed him by spiking his pancakes with a dairy product:

The reality

Ricotta pancakes contain (surprise!) cheese. And the Four Seasons is pretty famous for these particular flapjacks. A source says Smith ordered lemon ricotta pancakes to his room, not realizing that they contained, well, ricotta cheese. It’s unknown whether the 18-year-old is allergic to the stuff, but he allegedly became a vegan last year. (Maybe someone should tell him that pancakes—even cheeseless ones—contain eggs.)

The claim

The Four Seasons evicted him from his suite:

The reality

Despite his so-called near-death experience, our source tells us Smith actually wanted to extend his stay at the hotel—but in a bigger suite. He was told the only suites available were similar to the one he was in. So, he checked out. As one does.
