On July 7, TL Insider’s joined three experts from University Health Network’s Centre for Mental Health. Dr. Roger McIntyre, Jenna McLeod, and Dr. Joshua Rosenblat joined Publisher of Toronto Life, Ken Hunt, for a panel discussion on the ways COVID-19 has impacted mental health in Canada. Collectively, their specialities cover psychedelic medicine as treatment for mood disorders, patient-centred care and therapy for depression, as well as care for treatment-resistant patients with unipolar and bipolar depression.

The event began with a deep-dive into Canada’s current state of mental health care and treatment, with attention paid specifically to the increased patient care in response to COVID-19’s amplification of mental health issues. During the Q&A portion of the event, our special guests spoke to the “all hands on deck” mentality surrounding COVID-19 health care, as well as how to be a better ally to someone suffering from mental illness.

In Supper Club fashion, Chef Cory Vitiello of Flock Rotisserie + Greens and Cactus Club Café prepared a special meal available to Insider’s for purchase and delivery with Uber Eats. Members enjoyed the event over Rare Seared Cumbraes Tenderloin, Fresh Burrata Salad, and Baked Basque Cheese Cake for desert–supporting healthcare research, education and patient care with a portion of ticket sales donated to Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation.
