Take a look at the upscale version of KFC coming to Yonge and Bloor

“Upscale” is a relative term. KFC Select, which opens later this month at 730 Yonge Street, won’t be a shimmering candlelit retreat, but it also won’t serve neon coleslaw or poultry by the bucket. Instead, the restaurant will capitalize on the city’s Mexican obsession with a menu of Baja-style rice bowls, salads and burritos with trendy toppings like cilantro mayo and mango chutney. The “fast-casual” concept was recently test-marketed in the U.S. under the name KFC Eleven, and is designed to compete with restaurants like Chipotle and Five Guys. So, is the city really ready for a dolled-up Dirty Bird? KFC corporate seems to think soa second location is already lined up to launch in spring 2014. [Toronto Sun]
