As a kid, summer camp meant outdoorsy fun and camaraderie, but also a diet of greyish meatloaves and other sloppy mess hall standards. This fall, Danielle Goldfinger, the creator of The Stop’s Night Market, is revolutionizing the sleep-away experience with Two Islands Weekend, an adults-only, two-day retreat at Camp Timberlane in Haliburton. For $350 all-in, campers will feast on meals prepared by top Toronto chefs, including Globe Bistro executive chef Daniel Sanders and Café Belong pastry chef Kristina Groeger. They’ll also sleep in co-ed cabins, participate in nostalgia-inducing (but fully optional) activities like Capture the Flag and have access to an all-you-can-drink bar serving beer, wine and spirits until 2 a.m., which should make for extra-spirited campfire sing-alongs.
