The product: Valli basil flakes (15 g)

The UPC: 7 78768 14324 5

Lot code: sold since February 23, 2012

The details: Another brand has been added to the growing list of recalled basil products packaged alongside the Spice Kingdom dried Egyptian basil, on the suspicion of being contaminated with salmonella bacteria. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency warns consumers to toss any Valli brand basil flakes they purchased on or after February 23 of this year. (If you happen to do any basil shopping in Ottawa, the CFIA has also recalled various types of the herb from Ottawa’s Herb and Spice, New Middleast Supermarket and Mid-East Food stores). [CFIA]
