The product: Cedar Phoenicia sweet basil (30 g); Arsam Spices, Ambrosia Natural Foods and Bruno’s Fine Foods basil (all sold in 2 oz and 1.5 oz packages); bulk dried basil from Qi Natural Foods at 1001 Eglinton Ave. W.

The UPC: N/A (Cedar Phoenicia), 7 75434 01342 0 (Arsam), 7 75434 01342 0 (Ambrosia), 7 75434 01342 0 (Bruno’s Find Foods), N/A (Qi Natural Foods store)

Lot code: Sold since February 7, 2012 (Cedar Phoenicia), sold since June 14, 2012 (Arsam Spices), sold since June 14, 2012 (Ambrosia Natural Foods), sold since June 14, 2012 (Bruno’s Fine Foods) and dried basil sold in bulk at Qi Natural Foods since June 26, 2012.

The details: Even more dried basil has been deemed (potentially) unfit for consumption by the CFIA, due to (potential) salmonella poisoning. All of the above basil came from a Shah Trading Co., Ltd. facility in Scarborough. By this point, you should know the drill—if you’ve got it, chuck it! [CFIA]
