Toronto wholeheartedly embraces its gustatory vices, throwing daylong bashes to celebrate notorious artery-cloggers like chicken wings and bacon. Now Canada’s national dish, the sublimely decadent triad of French fries, gravy and cheese curds, is getting its own day of appreciation with Toronto Poutine Fest, an evening event hosted by new start-up Joylister at the Beer Academy on August 22. The night will include poutines by Poutini’s, Lou Dawgs and Great Burger Kitchen, including nontraditional takes with pulled pork, curry and duck confit. A $35 ticket includes three cups of craft beer plus all-you-can-eat fries and curds. [Toronto Star]
