Name: Big Crow Neighbourhood: The Annex Contact info: 176 Dupont St., 647-748-3287, roseandsonsbigcrow.com
Owners: Anthony Rose Chef: Chris Sanderson, who’s also the chef at Rose and Sons

The Food: Barbecue and simple sides. Garlic shrimp are flash-grilled and served with almond mayo. Slow-smoked wings and ribs come with sides like garlic bread, pork and beans and potato salad. Ice cream sandwiches for dessert.

The Drinks: Homemade ginger beer from Thomas Lavers in Kensington Market. Mai Tais and boozy fruit punch are sold by the glass and pitcher.

The Place: The space feels like an outdoor mess hall with picnic benches, a makeshift kitchen housed in one half of a reclaimed shipping crate and wait staff who cheer each time a train rolls by on the nearby CP railway tracks.

The Numbers: • 60 seats at picnic tables • 3 months to renovate • 1 sawed-in-half shipping crate to house the bar and kitchen • 1 custom barbecue from Sacramento, California • 1 soon-to-come mermaid fountain in the likeness of Rachel McAdams, owner Anthony Rose’s celebrity crush
