Despite running six restaurants already (including Cocina Economica, which opened last May), Dave Sidhu is adding another to his ever-expanding empire. Cafetería, a Mexican diner, will open this January in the Black Skirt space at 974 College Street, and chef Lucas Perez (Patria, El Catrin, Enoteca Sociale) will join Sidhu in the kitchen. The menu is still being finalized, but Sidhu’s team has confirmed that the 60-seat restaurant will be divided into two sections: a no-reservations bar area serving tacos and tortas, and a dining room with an expanded menu of diner-inspired dishes. In the summer, a street-facing patio will add room for 12 more guests.
