Kensington Market has become a destination for Asian sweets: first Kekou brought durian gelato to the neighbourhood and now there’s Millie Creperie, specializing in crispy Japanese crêpes, thinner and sweeter than the French variety. Buckwheat, Earl Grey and green tea batters are griddled to order, rolled into jumbo portable cones and stuffed with sweet fillings like green tea ice cream and sweet azuki-bean paste, as well as savoury options like tomato, spinach and smoked salmon. Ice cream parfaits come layered with crunchy cornflakes and topped with chocolate-covered Pocky straws.
