The Food: The unconventional brunch menu subs typical bacon-and-egg plates with things like miniature pork pies, kale and goat cheese torte and house-made Southwestern sausage with double-baked cauliflower casserole. Poppy seed pancakes come with cured trout and cucumber salad.
The Place: A relaxed, 30-seat space with white walls, blond wood and R&B on the stereo. A kaleidoscopic wall hanging combines hundreds of colourful leather scraps.
The Numbers: • 300 scraps of leather glued to plywood to create the multicoloured wall collage • 5 savoury items on the brunch menu (plus an almond-cranberry torte and peanut butter cookies) • 3 clay pots for fermenting sauerkraut, inherited from daSilva’s great-grandmother • 1 dinner menu launching after Labour Day
