Libertine, a new snack bar at 1307 Dundas West, has avoided the usual pre-opening hoopla in favour of a more restrained approach: a negligible web presence and seriously cryptic signage. Here’s what we know so far about the enigmatic joint: the chef is Léonie Lilla, a Momofuku alum who also trained at Auberge du Pommier and Hotel Le Germain; she’s reportedly serving fusion-style shared plates; and Matt Blondin, former executive sous-chef at Daishō and current chef-at-large, has categorically denied masterminding the menu, contrary to early reports from the Toronto Star. Oh, and actual palmistry may or may not be involved.
