Kupfert and Kim is a bright new kiosk under First Canadian Place that’s been drawing long lineups of health-conscious (and novelty seeking) Bay Streeters since it opened earlier this month. Mark Kupfert developed the concept for the vegan and gluten-free stand with his friend and fellow ex-Montrealer Daniel Suss, a former lawyer who was dismayed at the lack of wholesome lunch options in the financial district (the “Kim” in the name comes from Suss’s wife Ji-Hae Kim, also a partner in the business).

The menu, executed by chef Mo Paquette (The Gladstone), is mostly made up of bowls ($9.29) served to go, like The First Canadian, which features quinoa, tempeh, kale, pomegranate seeds, rainbow radish and roasted yams with a chia-tamari-maple sauce. There’s also a daily soup, and a breakfast menu featuring house-made granola ($5.75) and sweet quinoa ($5.75), along with coffee from Te Aro. All the food is prepared on-site, and a more extensive menu is now in the works.
