Each day of the 2008 film festival, Toronto Life will introduce one of TIFF’s hot spot restaurants. We inquire about the vibe, the celebs who dine there and, of course, the food. Today’s special: Joso’s.

The usual suspects: Hot dates, second wives and those who appreciate a fine rack.Celebrities on-site: Jude Law, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mariah Carey, Danny DeVito, Rod Stewart, Julio Iglesias, Paul Newman, Barbra Streisand, Kate Hudson, Hilary Swank and Harrison Ford. Why here and not another venue? Co-owner Shirley Spralja says, “We welcome and treat the celebrities like normal people, and they really love it. They know there is a story behind Joso’s and there is always someone here to tell it. They come here when they want something intimate. We could write a book if only the walls could speak.”Tell us a story: “A few festivals ago, Harrison Ford walked into the kitchen and announced, ‘That was the best salad I’ve ever had.’”Signature dishes: Calamari, risotto nero, fresh grilled fish.—Jen McNeely

Joso’s: 202 Davenport Rd. (at Avenue Rd.), 416-925-1903
