Fressen to relaunch with a new name and concept

Fressen’s announcement in December that it was closing for good elicited cries of dismay from its many fans, but it turns out owner Stephen Gardner is actually in the midst of launching a fresh concept in the same space—and yes, it’s vegan. Gardiner says his new restaurant—he hasn’t even decided on the name—is currently undergoing an extensive renovation that includes a more prominent bar with fully fleshed-out cocktail and wine lists. He’s also considering moving to upscale, tapas-style dining in the evenings with more casual lunch and brunch services. The opening date is tentatively set for early March.
