Tim Hortons is celebrating its semicentennial this week by giving away free doughnuts. The anniversary celebration starts tomorrow, May 15, when Timmies will be handing out pastries, coffee “and more” in Yonge-Dundas Square (it’s not clear what the “more” is, but preparations apparently involve a crane). Then, on Saturday, May 17, individual outlets will be handing out even more free doughnuts. Not just any doughnuts, either: the freebies will be birthday cake flavoured—which, based on a cursory visual inspection, means Old Fashioned Glazed, with sprinkles. The limit is one doughnut per customer, so binge-eaters should prepare their disguises accordingly.
