The sprawling bistro-lounge and private event space is being forced to vacate its Bloor West Village premises by the end of the month. The reason: a demolition clause in the building’s lease that gives the landlord the right to redevelop the property (and others on the same block) into retail space. Owner Ed Ho, who opened Earth Bloor West in June 2011, says he would consider relocating within the neighbourhood if a suitable space opened up. In the meantime, fans of chef Daniel Sanders’ hyper-local cuisine can head east to sister restaurants Globe Bistro on the Danforth or Earth Rosedale on Yonge. Earth Bloor West closes on September 29.
