Bruce Willis was in the downtown core on Tuesday, shooting a gunfight sequence for Red in the Royal York kitchen as vegetables exploded and splattered all over the walls (who knew Willis hated broccoli so much?).

Red, a spy thriller based on the DC graphic novel of the same name, began shooting in the city last fall. To boost confidence in an industry that people believe is shrinking in the city, the Ontario Media Development Corporation invited reporters to witness the Royal York’s transformation into faux-America (specifically Chicago). About 400 extras were hired for the shoot, with background players dressed as servers and party guests filling the hotel’s ballroom.

(In lieu of photos or video of Willis in action at the hotel, we present a clip of his ‘80s one-hit-wonder cover of “Respect Yourself.”)
