Avi Lewis: pompous, literal and working for Al Jazeera

Ever wonder what happened to CBC journalist and lefty icon Avi Lewis? Well, here’s the skinny: According to the National Post, Mr. Naomi Klein is settling into a new job as a talking head at the Arab news network Al Jazeera, working out of Washington.

Asked if Al Jazeera Arabic’s reputation for airing terrorist propaganda played into his decision, Mr. Lewis said the question is “absolutely hilarious.” “What’s the allegation? That Al Jazeera aired [Osama] bin Laden videos? So did CNN, FOX and everybody else,” he said. “I know that Al Jazeera is a favourite target of nationalist right-wingers in the United States, but as a journalist, I like to judge things on the evidence.”

Well, if pompous and literal were what they were looking for, looks like they got their man.
