Owners: Simon Holder and wife Athena, long-time residents of the area who previously worked in marketing.

The food: Sandwiches, soups, salads and hot comfort food for takeout or dining in.

Rotisserie chicken ($11) is available on Thursday and Friday, and on Saturday, there’s a brunch service with quiches, omelettes, frittatas and a breakfast sandwich. Appetite also has a small selection of gourmet packaged foods like popcorn, cookies and preserves from Bumpercrop.

The place: The bright, white and orange space, located just east of Broadview, previously belonged to Loïc Gourmet to Go, which closed in December. All along the east wall are framed covers of classic albums by the likes of David Bowie, Roxy Music and the Toronto new wave band Boys Brigade.

By the numbers: • 1,100 square feet • 80:20, the ratio of takeout to dine-in customers • $12–$15, the price range of the hot entrées • $6.50–$7, the price range of the sandwiches
