Yorkville 1: King West 0. Hotel workers picket outside Hyatt

A day after hotel workers handed out pamphlets outside the King Street Hyatt Regency—the headquarters of all TIFF business—workers took action and began to picket outside the hotel this afternoon, complete with giant inflatable rat. They chanted “contract now, contract now” as police looked on. Security at the hotel has tightened in the past day, with press having to present ID to access pretty much any venue in the hotel, where press conferences are being held. Is that the sound of Yorkville hoteliers chuckling that we hear?
