Wicked re-returns to Toronto this fall
Something Wicked this way comes. Again. After some speculation, the Mirvish machine has announced that it’s bringing back Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holtzman’s mega-musical this fall, for the third time since 2005. Don’t get us wrong. There’s much to love about this mash note to Oz’s witchy women pre-Dorothy: slave labour, animal experimentation, body politics—heady stuff. It’s just that it only serves as a reminder that we missed out on the original Broadway run starring the ne plus ultra trio of Idina Menzel (Elphaba), Kristin Chenoweth (Galinda) and Joel Grey (the Wizard). At least this will save us from watching the Rachel/Kurt anything-you-can-sing-I-can-sing-better rendition of “Defying Gravity” from Glee for the 100th time. Or not.
Outstanding! In a good sign that we’ll still be together, Lulu (the woman I’m seeing) alerted me to the news item so I’m already on notice that she wants to go.
Heard nothing but AMAZING things about this Musical! Just moved to the big city and would love to experience the Toronto-Broadway scene!
Just saw the show tonight, one word, boooooring. Don’t believe the hype.
Is there promotional code for this show, of which you know?
I had bought tickets for 7.30 pm – the day of my husband’s birthday but unfortunately, he has been in bed all day sick, and I had bought a “box” (I Had bought the box as some type of romantic surprise! Unfortunately)
DO you know of any such “promotional” code, as the show is expensive, but he always wanted to see it, so I will try and buy tickets again
Many thanks, and kind regards,
Paula McSweeeney
