At last night’s premiere of Brighton Rock, Helen Mirren kept it casual, looking as if she had just come from a fancy garden party, while her up-and-coming co-star Andrea Riseborough wore a full-on gown. The film is both an adaptation of Graham Greene’s 1938 novel about young gangs and a remake of John Boulting‘s film noir classic. It has been getting so-so reviews from British critics—but then again, what doesn’t?
