TIFF RED CARPET: Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes and many man hugs at The Place Beyond the Pines

Thanks to crawling traffic, Ryan Gosling and his girlfriend and co-star Eva Mendes were late to the world premiere of The Place Beyond the Pines. Not that the crowd held it against the Goz—they erupted into a near riot when they spied his dark blond locks emerging from a car outside the Princess of Wales. (He bleached his hair for his role as a bank-robbing stunt motorcycle driver, but we’re happy to report it’s back to its normal hue.) Inside, there was no less love going around: Gosling hugged co-star Bradley Cooper and director Derek Cianfrance, while Cooper gave the Cianfrance a hug plus a high-five. And Mendes, wearing a lacey Dolce and Gabbana sheath, blew reporters kisses, lest they feel left out. Actress Jennifer Lawrence even showed—in Dior, no less—to lend moral support (Cooper and Lawrence worked together on The Silver Linings Playbook, which premieres tonight at TIFF). The only thing not getting any love? Gosling’s look, which lacked a tie—if he’s planning to be in Fifty Shades of Grey, he’s going to need some neckwear.
