Last night we left the TIFF bubble of King West and headed to a converted garage near Trinity-Bellwoods for the after-party for the teen drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Stark white walls lit up with colourful LED lights served as the backdrop for the high school-themed party complete with yearbook photos, a massive Lite-Brite constructed from bottles of Vitamin Water (they were the sponsor, natch) and drinks served kegger-style in colourful plastic cups. Emma Watson, wearing a delicate Erdem floral-and-lace number, was misty-eyed when she spoke to press on the red carpet about her emotional reaction after seeing the film for the first time. Degrassi alum Nina Dobrev, meanwhile, looked practically angelic in Monique Lhuillier. Castmates Logan Lerman, Ezra Miller, Mae Whitman, Johnny Simmons and Reece Thompson and director Stephen Chbosky were also in tow.

Inside, the party felt like an upscale prom as DJ Brendan Canning spun everything from Robyn to Depeche Mode, and servers walked around with trays of pulled pork sliders and chocolate lollipops. Dobrev spent most of the night out on the patio despite complaints of being chilly, and posed with guests for photos in front of the white-painted car that partygoers were encouraged to deface with Sharpies. Watson was more of a wallflower, refusing photos and hanging back with her security detail, but she perked up when she heard that Glee’s Darren Criss and Chord Overstreet—sporting a Canada Goose jacket—had arrived. Also spotted was Jason Reitman, quietly sipping from his plastic cup while surveying the crowd. By midnight, Dobrev and Watson had disappeared, but the rest of the cast continued the dance party into the wee hours of the morning.
