Like Sandra Oh before them, Canadian actors Rachelle Lefevre (who also stars in the recent film adaptation of Barney’s Version) and Caroline Dhavernas have landed roles in a major American medical drama created by Shonda Rhimes, the force behind Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Titled Off the Map, the show is set in a “understaffed, under-stocked medical clinic” in a South American jungle. Dhavernas has scored what seems to be the lead as the “idealistic” Dr. Lily Brenner, a breakout part for the actor, whom you may (or may not) remember from Paul Gross’s Passchendaele. Lefevre—probably most well known for playing Victoria in the Twilight franchise (a role that she was fired from)—plays the “mysterious” Dr. Ryan Clark.

According to the official Off the Map‘s synopsis, “All of these young doctors are running away from personal demons, but they aren’t the only ones with emotional baggage... In this ensemble drama, six doctors who have lost their way will go to the ends of the earth to try to remember the reasons why they wanted to become doctors in the first place.” With sexy results, of course. Off the Map premieres on Wednesday, January 12.
