After a meal by chef Tony Loschiavo and L-Eat Catering at the massive Amfar party last night, we bumped into True Blood hottie Ryan Kwanten, who’s in town getting some TIFF love for his new film, Griff the Invisible. Attending the event with his mother, he told us he had just returned from a cruise to Alaska—also with his mother. After our what-a-great-son cooing subsided, Kwanten laughed. “It’s not as great as you’d think, sharing a room with your mom in a bunk-bed situation.” He’s an Aussie, so we quizzed him on the Sydney-Melbourne rivalry (similar to our own Toronto-Montreal one), and he, being a Sydneysider, ran with it, while correcting our pronunciation. “It’s Melbun. We don’t pronounce the Rs. But I won’t hold it against you.” We didn’t dare ask about Cairns.
