The Swag Series: RealTVFilms caters to Canadian celebrities and maybe Glenn Close

What it is: RealTVFilms, a California-based social media–type blog covering TV and films, has launched its annual TIFF gifting lounge again this year. Held at the brand-spanking-new lounge FStop in an alleyway off of King Street (all the coolest bars are hard to find), RealTVFilms has tried to make the space one that people actually want to hang out in. With Wi-Fi, a bar, a DJ, snacks by Crush Wine Bar and interesting decor (deer heads, human silhouettes and low, cozy banquettes are all here), they’ve made the space more inviting than some of the cold hotel rooms we’ve seen this week.

Who goes: Being a social media company, RealTVFilms has invited Toronto bloggers and Twitterati, along with the typical stars. The focus is also on Canadian celebs who sometimes get overlooked during star-crazy TIFF. Morgan Spurlock, while not Canadian, dropped by this year, and Juliette Lewis, Glenn Close and Russell Peters were all rumoured to show. Last year, local stars like Ivana Santilli, Kardinal Offishal, MTV’s Nicole Holness and Corner Gass Tara Spencer-Nairn all dropped by (though our favourite visitor spotted last year was naturally Playboy bunny Bridget Marquardt.

What they get: Eyelash extensions by Winks, School of Hustle T-shirts (the company provides opportunities for Toronto youth at risk, using fair labour practices with the goal of giving the kids new life skills), sweets from ChocolaChocola (our favourites were the banana chips covered in milk chocolate) and headwear from Banoo by Mesa (sort-of-fancy headbands). We loved the Treccani shoes, which are all custom made by hand in Italy. Starting at around $1,000, these weren’t for the bloggers or social media mavens willing to tweet for food shoes.
