NXNE releases its “Schedulizer,” allowing fans to, well, schedule a concert here and a gin and tonic there

Toronto’s indie music festival North By Northeast is always a big to-do for the city’s audiophiles, and this year, the event has grown, boasting 650 bands, 40 films and 50 panels. With so many bands to see from June 13 to 19, it’s impossible to catch them all (unless, we’re Superman, which we’re certain we are not), but NXNE has launched a new online function this year to help us finalize our tour of Toronto’s cinemas and dive bars—the Schedulizer allows fans to choose their must-see NXNE shows and create a personalized schedule on the event’s website.

A few big names—such as DEVO, Deerhoof, The Dodos and Stars—are performing at the festival this year, as well as some Toronto favourites, including Diamond Rings, PS I Love You (okay, they’re from Kingston) and Forest City Lovers, which means we’ve definitely got a few scheduling decisions to make. On June 16, do we don our best ’80s garb and do the safety dance with Men Without Hats or head over to see MuchMusic’s The Wedge host Damian Abraham belt out a few ear-splitting notes with his band Fucked Up? We suggest bringing a crossword or Sudoku, because places like The Hideout and Cherry Cola’s Rock n’ Rolla Cabaret and Lounge will actually have lineups down the street.
