Natalie Portman is hyper aware of cameras, Lisa Kudrow loves playing horrible people
When photographers snap 10 frames per second, more than half of the shots contain images of celebrities with their mouth open or their eyes opening unevenly. No one is more aware of this than Natalie Portman. (OK, perhaps with the exception of Paris Hilton.)
The actor, promoting Love and Other Impossible Pursuits with co-stars Lisa Kudrow and Scott Cohen, author Ayelet Waldman and writer/director Don Roos, made sure to keep her eyes open and mouth closed when not speaking to avoid unflattering photos. Even when she reached for a glass of water, she lifted the glass slowly and kept her mouth closed as much as possible.
Kudrow plays a jealous ex-wife at odds with Portman’s character. “The worst human being is fun to play, especially if it’s a comedic, horrible, horrible woman,” said Kudrow. “It’s just more fun to play someone who isn’t just adorable.” Kudrow played a self-absorbed bored psychiatrist on the hilarious Web Therapy Internet series also directed by Roos.
Though it was Kudrow’s first time in Toronto, she didn’t have much time to explore. “I just got here last night and I’m leaving tomorrow,” said Kudrow. “And now I’m here with you. That’s my experience with Toronto.”
