In what may be the ultimate confluence of things a lot of LGBT people love, John Cameron Mitchell is coming to Toronto to host a screening of Hedwig and the Angry Inch during this year’s World Pride celebrations, and he may even personally lead the audience in a sing-along to the movie’s queer-anthem soundtrack.

The screening, a World Pride tie-in event organized by TIFF and the Inside Out Film Festival, will take place at the TIFF Bell Lightbox on June 24. Mitchell, who played Hedwig in the movie and during the production’s original live theatrical run, is scheduled to introduce and host the sing-along screening. It’s unknown, at this point, whether he will actually lead the sing-along, but a publicist for Inside Out told us that he “most likely” will.

With Neil Patrick Harris currently playing Hedwig on Broadway, this could be a rare opportunity to experience the musical in the company of the guy who played the lovelorn transgendered rock musician first—and, arguably, best. Tickets go on sale to the general public on May 28.

June 24. Tickets $12.50. TIFF Bell Lightbox, 350 King St. W., tiff.net
