Joaquin Phoenix documentary (with sex, drugs and defecation) coming to TIFF

Anyone wondering what the deal is with Joaquin Phoenix, who either flipped out and ditched acting to become a rapper (not likely) or just decided to have some bizarre fun with publicity (more probable), might find answers in Casey Affleck’s I’m Still Here, the upcoming documentary (or is it a mockumentary?) about Phoenix’s attempt to launch a hip hop career. The film is set to screen at TIFF next month, and with plenty of cocaine, oral sex and human-on-human defecation, it’s sure to be a hot ticket. But if the doc is anywhere as cryptic as its newly released teaser trailer (in it, a dishevelled Phoenix deals with paparazzi, raps and deals with paparazzi some more), deciding whether it’s real or scripted might be as difficult as it will be for Phoenix to work off his serious beer belly.
