Canada’s Handyman Challenge is a new HGTV show coming out in early 2012 about handymen and women; helping build the buzz are, uh, Jillian Harris, a former Bachelorette (it is a career-maker) and everyone’s beloved handyman with a heart of gold, Mike Holmes. This half-inexperienced cast is on the lookout for people who are good with their hands and who know how to work a piece of wood into something beautiful (like a decorative birdhouse, perhaps) and will be conducting auditions in Toronto on July 24 and July 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 23 beginning at 9 a.m. at Finley-Dufferin Lumber and Supply Company. All handy hopefuls will need to come with a self-made project constructed from a four-by-eight-foot sheet of three-quarter-inch plywood. We can’t wait to see all the ways someone can make a spice rack.
