After watching the music video for Fucked Up’s “Do You Feed?” it’s hard to believe that more music videos aren’t shot in Little India. The clip features band members Ben Cook and Sandy Miranda traipsing around Gerrard Street East on a date, with stops at Bombay Chowpatty, B. J. Supermarket and Lahore Tikka House, where Miranda dances with the cook manning the tandoor after he makes her a naan. The song, a punk rock hymn of devotion to curry, comes from David’s Town, a companion to the band’s concept album David Comes to Life that compiles the music of 11 fictional bands from the titular David’s fictional town of Byrdesdale Spa (confused? Read this longer explanation from Pitchfork). Behind a faux-cockney sneer, Cook ends each chorus with a sweetly imploring request: “Do you want to have a curry with me?”
