Fourteen people, other than Tatiana Maslany, who are feeling emotional about her overdue Emmy win
Struggling actors can learn a lot from Tatiana Maslany’s Emmy win last night: if you work hard, get snubbed at awards shows for several years, and do the work of roughly a dozen people, maybe one day you’ll be recognized for your efforts. Depending on whose Twitter feed you were reading, Maslany’s Outstanding Lead Actress nod for her many roles on Space’s Orphan Black was either proof of Canadian superiority, recognition of the actor’s versatility, or an occasion to discuss our country’s labyrinthine television regulations.
Most seemed to agree on one thing: it was about time for Maslany, who plays more characters on Orphan Black than some TV actors play in their entire careers.
DID U KNO: Tatiana Maslany is actually *playing* the part of her Emmy Award right now.

It was also a victory for Canada:

And maybe also evidence of the depth of Canadian talent:
Canadian Genre TV: truly unique and we can make our mark: if you let us. @JustinTrudeau @melaniejoly #CRTC #cdntv

Sort of. It’s complicated:
Say what you want about Canadian television, but a Canadian actress on a Canadian TV show just won the Emmy for lead actress in a drama.

(Okay, technically Orphan Black is a co-production with BBC America, but still, Canada WOOOO! ??????)

It was such a certifiably Canadian moment that it merited some deep discussion of the CRTC:

And from MP Niki Ashton, who would like to remind you, voter, that she also enjoys this particular television program:
Congratulations @tatianamaslany on a big win! Making the Prairies+ all of Canada proud! https://t.co/FcjCeO9r4Q

Maslany’s award was also a win for science fiction, maybe?
Look, yes, @tatianamaslany winning the Emmy is a big deal for Canada. But it's also a big deal for genre shows and acting in general.
— Norm Wilner (@normwilner) September 19, 2016
It was too big a deal to fit in 140 characters:
5) messy unknowns.
Tat Maslany Is ALWAYS the first to jump. She's also ALWAYS the first to help anyone up when they need a hand. She's

And a reliable source had it that she was still in shock at the end of the evening:
Unprompted: "Whoa crazy, hm, weird" – @tatianamaslany driving home from the final party. I think it's slowly beginning to sink in…
