ET Canada’s sixth birthday party is the least TIFF-y of all TIFF parties

As the Hollywood set celebrated last night with parties for Butter, Interview magazine and InStyle, our homegrown Canadian talent came out for ET Canada’s sixth birthday bash at Spice Route. The cast of Rookie Blue and Lost Girl, everyone’s favourite contractor Mike Holmes, Call Me Fitz’s affable Tracy Dawson, Molly Parker, Natalie Brown, the Trailer Park Boys, Alexandra Holden (we know her best as anorexic beauty queen Mary Johanson from Drop Dead Gorgeous), ET Canada hosts and L.A. transplant Matte Babel all walked the red carpet—some better than others (namely, Natalie Brown and her impressive at-camera eye squints)—in honour of the entertainment news source’s special day. Check out the red carpet after the jump.

The dimly lit, apparently Thai-inspired room was filled with sponsors, ad executives and PR types who snacked on various Chinese takeout buffets. We’re not entirely sure, but we think party planners were going for an Asian fusion festivity, which we didn’t understand, since this was a TV entertainment news program’s birthday, and there was no mention of a movie tie-in. We asked several sources for their opinions on who else was inside Spice Route, and the general consensus came down to “Rick Campanelli’s old girlfriends.” As the night carried on, the birthday party proceeded as expected: eating, drinking, dancing and very few mentions of TIFF and/or any of the films that have premiered at the 2011 festival. It was basically like TIFF didn’t exist, or like certain Canadian celebrities weren’t offered invites to splashier parties.
