What Toronto lacks in regular street food offerings it makes up for in buzz. Last week, the city’s burgeoning food truck scene caught the eye of Vancouver-based app-builders, and now Food Network Canada’s Eat St. has turned its attention towards the city’s growing fleet of trucks (regular Dish readers might recall the show snubbed Toronto for the first two seasons). Season three, which premieres May 9, will follow three different Toronto-based vehicles: smoked-meat purveyor Caplansky’s in the season-opener, rolling taco shop El Gastrónomo Vagabundo in episode eight and Smoke’s Poutinerie in episode nine (you can catch a super-quick glimpse of Smoke’s around the 14-second mark in the trailer). Other Toronto outfits also appear in the Eat St. App (which unfortunately seems to have some problems with duplicate listings). Now, if only city hall would pay this much attention to Toronto’s appetite for street food.
