The Academy Award screening committee is hard at work, whittling down long lists of Oscar hopefuls for the nominations announcement January 25. We’ve got our eye on Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould, a documentary on the celebrated Toronto classical pianist. The film, from directors Michele Hozer and Peter Raymont, has made the 15-movie short list for best documentary feature, along with the Eliot Spitzer doc Client 9, the Banksy film Exit Through the Gift Shop and Davis Guggenheim’s post–Inconvenient Truth effort Waiting for ‘Superman,’ about the American education system, which premiered at TIFF this fall.
