DJ Jazzy Jeff signs Toronto artist

While it was west Philadelphia where he was born and raised, along with his slightly more high-profile friend, these days DJ Jazzy Jeff Townes has been collaborating with Toronto singer Ayah. Jazzy Jeff is working with the 24-year-old soul-R&B artist to create her second album, This Way—a free sample is available here—set for release this year.

Right now Ayah, which means “miracle” in Arabic, is in Austin, along with a healthy contingent of other Canadian acts, debuting her Jazzy-produced work at the SXSW festival. No word on what special handshake the duo has.
