Avril Lavigne is very, very pissed off at her record label

Canadian pop-rocker Avril Lavigne finished recording her fourth album a year ago, yet it still hasn’t been released, and now the expletive-adoring singer is pissed. Lavigne says the follow-up to her 2007 album The Best Damn Thing has been so slow going because of delays by her record label, RCA. In a letter to her fans, the 26-year-old tore into RCA.

“For the first time I experienced a bunch of bureaucratic BS...People do their best work when they are doing what they want, love and is natural for them, not when you are forcing them to be something that they are not,” she wrote. “From the beginning of my career my message has always been to be yourself and stand up for what you believe in. Follow your heart.”

She also mentioned that the album’s first single, “What the Hell,” will be released in January, but RCA has yet to set a release date for the entire album. Oh, RCA: why do you have to go and make things so complicated? Judging by some of Lavigne’s past behaviour, “bureaucratic BS” is her version of playing nice. RCA best get that album out or risk suffering the wrath of a truly miffed rock diva. Just ask Deryck Whibley.
