WTF? Man killed with crossbow in Toronto library

At about four o’clock yesterday afternoon, Toronto’s news outlets were given the equivalent of happily chummed waters for sharks: a bizarre violent crime that happened in time for the evening news. At about that time, according to police, Zhou Fang walked into the Main Street branch of the Toronto Public Library and shot Si Cheng. With a crossbow. (Maybe someone’s been watching too much of The Walking Dead.) According to the Toronto Star:

Const. Tony Vella said Cheng and Fang knew each other but would not release details of their relationship. However, Vella said police believe the killing “was not random, it was targeted.” The Main St. library, located just south of Gerrard St. E., was bustling with children and their parents when the attack occurred around 4 p.m.

We’re nothing if not resilient in this town, so the jokes on Twitter are already flying fast—a lot of chain mail-related humour. There’s an idea for a new ad campaign to bring in the tourists: Toronto—where it’s medieval times all the time.
