What does a dress made of toilet paper look like? See 15 preliminary sketches from Philip Sparks and more
Slotted for fall 2011, the Cashmere runway show asks 15 Canadian designers to construct a dress and accessories out of toilet paper, all in support of breast cancer research and awareness. Designers include House of Lizares’s Brian Maristela, José-Manuel St-Jacques, Simon Bélanger, Carrie Hayes, Rita Tesolin, Jason Matlo, Richard Robinson, Luke Marion, Lovas’s Wesley Badanjak, Ever Thine’s Mikki Rizvi, Christopher Paunil, Chris Tyrell and Jim Searle of Hoax Couture, Marika Brose, Philip Sparks and Franco Mirabelli. An exclusive preview of the full collection takes place on September 28 at the Art Gallery of Ontario, but all dresses will be on display during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month at The Bay’s flagship at Yonge and Queen. Toilet paper available at any nearby convenience store or supermarket. See the sketches below.
