Watch Leslieville residents chase anti-gay Bible thumpers from their street
Toronto offers so many engaging activities for a Sunday night in the summer. A person can go to the CNE, walk along the lake shore or even just have a quiet night in. Or, a group of religious people could get together outside a same-sex couple’s home and pray for their salvation. Of course, this provides other opportunities, like chasing the aforementioned church folk off the street in a scene that just needs some pitchforks and torches to be complete. Finally, we all get to watch it on YouTube for days of entertainment. Thanks, Internet, and thanks, Toronto.

• Church group protest in front of couple’s house? [The Leslieviller]
Congratulations to everyone who scared away those homophobic fanatics! Every Torontonian should be proud that we live in a city where citizens won’t put up with this kind of bigotry and harassment.
*Fabulous*–I want to live on this street!
Thinking people in East York don’t welcome them, either.
“just needs some pitchforks and torches to be complete.” ? yeah not quite, next time actually lay the beat down on them and then you’ll have something to cheer about.
I get the disturbance part…I think.
The religious people were making a ruckus?
However, the neighbours don’t sound too tolerant…nor too loving of someone they don’t agree with.
In our post-modern world, who decides on the definition of love?
Is it survival of the fittest? The loudest voice wins?
A Counter-cultural Canadian Brother sounds like he’s being disingenuous. Really? You can’t see why a group of neighbours might confront a bunch of bigots who targeted a couple for harassment?
To those who think that the religious group were exercising their right to free expression and not guilty of harassment, ask the question: Would it have been OK for the neighbors to demand their addresses and to follow them home so they could stand outside their houses and pray for tolerance towards gays and lesbians?
Craig:
Toronto Star just reported that the couple living in the house said there was no targetted harassment. They have never felt personally targetted.
Therefore, why are the neighbours so embittered and hostile towards a bunch of multi-ethnic, older people?
Well lets be honest, These people didn’t just end up in front of a gay couples place by luck. They obviously had a plan of attack and they arranged to spread their hate in front of that house. Im proud of the neighbors for sticking up for not only whats right but for what happens on their street.

pretty sad when the hamilton spectator is one of the only sources to print more than just the youtube clip.
it is dangerous reporting not to include the whole story.
I wonder if the black folks in the nice outfits would like it if a sub-set of society came to their ‘hood and said they should change the colour of their skins and try to fit in?
As i understand it this is a sub group that originates from a often divisive group first known as the plymouth brethren which began in Dublin around 1827.It was organised primarily by George Wigram, Benjamin Wills Newton and John Nelson Darby. And over the years has split many times and families have often payed the price. Its great that concerned citizen is concerned. The link that concerned citizen provided shows the nature of these devisive type groups. When it explains how their women folk are discriminated against by not being permitted to take part the preaching.
