VIDEO: Watch Ron Burgundy (a.k.a Will Ferrell) sing mayor Rob Ford’s election theme on Conan

Now, even fictional anchormen are paying attention to quasi-mayor Rob Ford. SNL veteran Will Ferrell made an appearance on Conan last night as famed ‘70s TV desk jockey Ron Burgundy, who apparently sees Ford as a ”dear, dear, dear friend” who he holds “in the highest regard” for being “so damn honest.” Burgundy went on to sing a Forded up version of Loverboy’s “Working for the Weekend,” claiming that the mayor himself had asked him to sing the song as the theme to his upcoming re-election campaign. Wednesday night’s Conan appearance comes hot on the heels of Ford’s mushy, far from aggressive interviews with actual anchormen Peter Mansbridge, Matt Lauer and Bill Weir—and was arguably just as enlightening.
