Transit City is so terrible it ruined Toronto without even existing (or so says Rob Ford)

City councillors began the unpleasant process of debating service cuts yesterday, and the proceedings became nasty quite quickly. There was plenty of bickering between council’s left- and right-wing factions, talk of de-amalgamation and unofficial polls from the mayor’s office. At one point, the Toronto Sun reports, Councillor Anthony Perruzza asked if the costs of cancelling Transit City were included in the looming budget shortfall (they weren’t). Rob Ford’s response? “Transit City ruined this city.” To that, we say: um, how? We find it truly impressive that something that never actually existed could’ve done so much damage.
