Toronto FC players go to Houston, get drunk and get arrested

It’s tough being a Toronto FC fan these days. Not only is the team holding down the last-place spot in MLS, with a single win in the past 11 games, but now three team members have been arrested for public intoxication. Houston police said Luis Silva, Nick Soolsma and Miguel Aceva, in town for a game, were involved in a brawl outside a local nightclub (aptly named Club Escobar)—but didn’t explain who or why the trio were fighting. They did, however, mention that Silva tried to run away, but officers were able to catch up to him in less than a block. In the spirit of supporting the home team, we’ll choose to believe that the quick apprehension was the result of one too many drinks, and not an overall indication of the team’s speed. [Toronto Star]
